The Care He Always Deserved

Big Red came to Red Clay Ranch after being seized by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Despite multiple opportunities for his previous owner to help him reach a healthy weight, Big Red arrived severely underweight, with a body condition score of just 2.

His condition was attributed to age, but within his first two weeks at Red Clay Ranch, Big Red gained 75 pounds simply by receiving adequate food, water, and attentive care.

Today, Big Red is a beloved sanctuary resident whose gentle nature has captured the hearts of everyone who cares for him. He is a wonderful reminder that senior horses can thrive when they are given the nourishment, dignity, and compassion they deserve.
